Caribbean Cruise 2008 Day Five

On to Roatan, Honduras! This island is a newer stop for cruise lines, and it's still under construction. We hit a nature preserve for the "Pirates Birds and Monkeys" tour, and it was a really nice little park. Pay special attention to the picture of the monkey with its ass squarely planted on Lisa's head.

This just in, baby monkeys are cute. Also, Barena beer is pretty tasty at 10am in 90 degree heat.

Next stop, Belize! We enjoyed the ruins at Tulum so much that we decided to book a tour of the ruins at Altun Ha. Another part of the tour was a boat ride up the River Wallace where we got to stare at the sun glaring off the water waiting on a manatee or dolphin to pop its head up for a split second. We did get to see a croc (albeit a wee one) and some creepy-ass bats overhead, so that was neat.

The ruins at Altun Ha aren't as well preserved as Tulum, and we got to have an air-conditioning free time-out after our bus broke down on the way back. Amazingly, the replacement bus got us back to the pier 5 minutes before the last tender back to the boat departed, so all was well.

Finally, Belize is a crap hole. That is all.

And now to Cozumel! We booked a tour of the Mayan ruins at Tulum, so that's pretty much it for this album.

Second day on the ship... first stop, Grand Cayman! We booked an excursion to 7 mile beach and just chilled out for a few hours. I realized I was getting old when my priority was staying in the shade and not getting burnt. Oh well...at least I won't shriek when my burnt head gets hit by hot water in the shower for a week after my trip.

Caribbean Cruise May 18th - 25th 2008 Day Zero Minus One

So it's the Friday before we leave for our cruise, and instead of helping my wife pack I'm setting up this blog. I'm already in a karma debt and I still need to set up the picasa albums. I'm off to pack for a bit then I'll resume my efforts to keep track of this trip.
